HISBDC Pathways to Profits webinars are designed for small businesses in operation for at least two years, have a good track record in their specialty, and want to grow to the next level. The Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) program fuels small business growth in historically underutilized business zones with a goal of awarding at least 3% of federal contract dollars to HUBZone-certified companies each year. This webinar is designed for potential and existing federal government contractors gain an understanding of the HUBZone program which helps small business growth in certain urban and rural areas. Key topics include: • What are the benefits and eligibility requirements for small business participation • The new HUBZone portal, SBA Connect, and see how to access it • Changes to the HUBZone map starting July 1 • Best practices and practical tips for government contractors and subcontractor

Speaker(s): Erin Kanehira, Procurement Counselor, Hawaiʻi Procurement Technical Assistance Center Terry Oyama, AVP, Strategic Account Executive, Central Pacific Bank Erin Kanehira is a Certified Procurement Professional at Hawaii PTAC. Prior to joining PTAC, she worked in a variety of disciplines, including higher education, real estate, state government, and human services. She has been a member of the National Contract Management Association Aloha Chapter since 2011 and served as its Secretary since 2018. Terry Oyama, AVP and Government Strategic Accounts Manager at CPB has over 15 years of experience providing services to the Government. Terry’s company, Solution Engineering Hawaii, Inc. is a graduate of the SBA’s 8(a) Small Disadvantaged Business Development program, and continues to provide services to the Government here in Hawaiʻi. Prior to starting his company, Terry was a Contracting Specialist with The General Services Administration’s Federal Acquisition Services in Honolulu.
